Investigators determined that Alvarez had been shot inside one of the apartments. He was transported by a private party to Essentia Health-Fosston Hospital and, due to the severity of his injuries, was later airlifted to Essentia Health in Fargo for advanced treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on Tuesday morning.
