It is with the deepest sadness and broken hearts that Blair, Elsa, and Beau share the devastating news of the passing of their beautiful, precious daughter and adored sister, Etta May Waldin, who passed away on Saturday, 6 June 2026.
Etta is remembered as a treasured granddaughter of Nana Brooking, Grandad Brooking, Grandma, Nana Marcia, the late Grandad David, and Grandbob. She was a cherished niece, beloved cousin, and loyal friend whose presence brought warmth and meaning to the lives of many. She was also dearly loved by her furbabies—Meggy, Hoppy, Toffee, George, Marlo, and Nelly—who were part of the joy she carried in her everyday life.
Her family describes Etta as someone with the kindest heart, a gentle spirit, and a deeply loving nature. She had a way of making people feel cared for and valued, and her compassion touched many lives in ways that will not be forgotten. Those who knew her best remember her laughter, her warmth, and the love she gave so freely to family and friends alike.
The grief felt by her loved ones is profound, as they come to terms with a loss that feels immeasurable. Yet alongside the sorrow is deep gratitude for the time they shared with her and the memories that will remain forever cherished. Her family emphasizes that while her absence leaves an unfillable space in their lives, her love continues to live on within them.
A service to celebrate Etta’s life will be held at Crestwood, 615 Heretaunga Street East, Hastings, on Friday, 12 June at 2pm. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and join in honoring and remembering their dearly loved girl.
As those who loved her gather to say goodbye, they do so with heavy hearts but also with appreciation for the beautiful life she lived and the impact she had on those around her.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever in our hearts.
